Well old friend, you got your way
left us for your heavenly home,
I know you have been planning
To visit Jesus and His Angels there.
Well, I guess it is goodbye for awhile
But setting aside my separation woes
It is a golden holiday
So I brush away my tears, hallelujah!
Hallelujah, my friend has gone to Heaven!
I used to phone you as Dr. I Do Care
And you would respond Dr. I Do Believe,
That phone system doesn't
There were the bridge games
The discussion of our Jesus ministries
Trips to plays
and the beautiful Yosemite
And the ringing in yearly of the New Year.
Oh what fun we had with Carol
Carol and Barbara made the food
While we two joked about and talked,
You can be sure
we will miss you.
You were the friend, yes a close one
With whom I could discuss my deep needs,
You were there to give sound advice
And I was there for you and your needs.
I never had a brother
near my age
But to me you were that surrogate kin,
God grants us some soul friends
you were that missing brother.
I will just have to wait until I join you there,
We will again have
a grand time
But our work on Earth will be done,
And we can sing praises to our God.
